Queen Bee Hat & Mittens Knitting Kit

Our new Queen Bee Hat and Mittens Kit uses the Margaret S. Collins Bee Hat and Mittens pattern by Mona Zillah. This kit utilizes our squishy, 2-ply sport weight, Cody yarn in the colors Marigold and Coffee Bean. These colors contrast beautifully to make the intricate colorwork pop in this design. The stranded colorwork of this pattern is special because it gives a nod to the ancient Baltic knitting traditions of Estonia and Latvia. Baltic garment construction often utilizes fine needles to create a dense fabric that is resistant to the wind and is sure to keep you warm.

We are so excited to introduce bunnymuff - Mona Zillah as the designer of the Margaret S. Collins Bee Hat and Mittens.

Mona specializes in creating patterns for hand-knitters advocating for small farms and flocks; the bedrock of our sustainable slow fashion. They create relevant challenging designs that are clever additions to any outfit, blending traditional and contemporary styles, with a focus on colorwork. Most patterns are easily adjustable for a personal best fit in an extended range of sizes. Bunnymuff patterns are often named to celebrate the contributions of marginalized people.

“When building human societies, that support humans, we must make reparations for our past and create equity for a stronger future. People are behind the materials that we source and the things we make. I hope you enjoy your next bunnymuff project!" -Mona

I visited your mill in late September and purchased your Saratoga fingering yarn to make this purse. I’m so glad I
discovered your mill in Buffalo as I am originally from Wyoming and it’s so special to knit with yarn that is sourced and milled there.

I love your Legacy club and look forward to some fun projects and great yarns to discover.
