Our new Queen Bee Hat and Mittens Kit uses the Margaret S. Collins Bee Hat and Mittens pattern by Mona Zillah. This kit utilizes our squishy, 2-ply sport weight, Cody yarn in the colors Marigold and Coffee Bean. These colors contrast beautifully to make the intricate colorwork pop in this design. The stranded colorwork of this pattern is special because it gives a nod to the ancient Baltic knitting traditions of Estonia and Latvia. Baltic garment construction often utilizes fine needles to create a dense fabric that is resistant to the wind and is sure to keep you warm.

We are so excited to introduce bunnymuff - Mona Zillah as the designer of the Margaret S. Collins Bee Hat and Mittens. She specializes in creating patterns from yarn that is made from small flocks and farms. Mona blends traditional and contemporary styles with a focus on colorwork, many times reaching from our past and the environment around her. She is a fervent advocate and caretaker of our environment and uses thoughtful materials encouraging slow fashion. Many of Mona's patterns are adjustable for a personal best fit in an extended range of sizes. Her pattern naming inspiration comes from a passion to reinforce people. "Often named after marginalized people. When building human societies, that support humans, we must make reparations for our past and create equity for a stronger future.
