The Gem City Shawl is an asymmetrical triangle shawl that features a medley of garter stitch, stockinette stitch, eyelet lace, knotted openwork, and two-color waffle check

The shawl is knitted flat, and the asymmetrical shape is achieved by decreasing one stitch at the start of all right-side rows and then also increasing two stitches at the end of the same rows. The pattern sequence is knitted three times with each color being substituted by another color in each subsequent iteration.

The pattern is rated as Advanced Beginner.

Designed by Monica Wesley of Em Lyn Knits. Monica was introduced to us by Lori at Cowgirl Yarn in Laramie. She is a talented designer with a lovely flair. Monica believes wholeheartedly in the value of handmade items because of the time and attention required to make them bring more love, attentiveness, and kindness into the world.

The Finished Blocked Size: 78”x36”x58”
Yarn: Mountain Meadow Wool Green River fingering weight yarn – 50% Bamboo and 50% Cormo Wool.
Evening Sky colors: 1 Skein each of 3 colors: Pansy, Natural Cream, Spruce.
Sunset colors: 1 Skein each of 3 colors: hand-painted Canyon, Pumpkin and Marigold
Needle: US Size 6 32" circular knitting needle. The designer notes that she is a tight knitter and encourages knitters to check their gauges so they don’t run out of yarn.
Kit Includes Pattern and Yarn, Needle option if chosen.
Sourced, spun and dyed at Mountain Meadow Wool in Buffalo, Wyoming USA

Hand wash by soaking in lukewarm water with a mild detergent
Let the fabric soak for 15 min, gently squeeze out excess moisture
Roll fabric between clean dry towels to remove moisture
Lay flat and shape to air dry
